$500,000 for woman who tripped on raised sidewalk
Posted by Robert A. Flaster
A woman was walking on a side street in Manhattan when she tripped and fell to the ground. The sidewalk was raised about one inch higher than the adjoining sidewalk. The fall caused the woman to fracture her wrist for which she underwent surgery with insertion of a plate. The woman was able to return to work, as a physician, about two weeks after the surgery. Even though as the woman was walking along the sidewalk, there was nothing obstructing her view from seeing the raised sidewalk, the case was settled with the property owner for $500,000.
